Area chambers and Barksdale Air Force Base team up to help vets find jobs
The Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce announced Tuesday that it will partner with local chambers and local industries to host a job fair.
They are co-hosting with the Bossier Chamber of Commerce, Barksdale Air Force Base (BAFB) Airman & Family Readiness Center, Good Will Industries, the Department of Labor and the Department of Veterans Affairs to host the job and employment fair. Spring Veterans and Spouse Resources.
“It is our honor to be part of a community that shows such overwhelming support for our military community,” said the BAFB Airman & Family Readiness Center. “We are thrilled to be a part of this partnership and to co-host the Spring Employment and Education Resource Fair for Veterans and Military Spouses.”
This event is billed as the premier veteran and spouse hiring event in the area and will take place on Tuesday, April 12 at the Bossier Civic Center.
“Our goal is to positively impact employment opportunities for our transitioning service members, their families and our unemployed veterans in the Ark-La-Tex area,” the Chamber of Commerce of Ark-La-Tex said. Bossier.
BAFB Airman & Family Readiness Center said:
“The Employment Assistance Program (EAP) at Barksdale AFB, as part of the Airman & Family Readiness Center (A&FRC) mission, assists our veterans, military family members, and civilians in the community find successful employment. We offer workshops that support skills and resume development to match candidates with local/national employment and training opportunities.”
During this fair, HR departments can engage with veteran and military spouses and communicate the proper steps to apply for positions in large local/national companies.
The job fair will be open to the public from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. On-site interviews and hiring are allowed and encouraged.
