Bond lawyers contribute to Chambers USA 2021 regional employment guide

Bond, Schoeneck & King PLLC(BSK) attorneys MichaelBernstein and Peter Jones are the editors of Chambers USA’s 2021 edition of the US Regional Employment guide.

They also wrote the introduction to this widely used guide for in-house legal counsel and human resources professionals.

Bond attorneys Louis DiLorenzo, Thomas Eron and Howard Miller, along with Bernstein and Jones, wrote the New York State chapter of the regional guide, BSK said in an Oct. 18 press release on the website of the society.

The regional guide provides an overview of employment issues; commentary on the continued impact of COVID-19 in the workplace; the use of social networks; the movements “Black Lives Matter” and “Me Too”; salary equity; a decline in unionization in the private sector; complaints of discrimination, harassment and denunciation; and an extension of labor law protections and restrictions to non-unionized and organized employees in the workplace.

The New York Chapter provides a current picture of employment issues, relationships, trends, developments, dispute adjustment, and other considerations that global entities need to understand in determining whether and where to establish or strengthen their presence in New York State.

The introduction that Bernstein and Jones wrote for “US Regional Employment” 2021, included these opening sentences:

“Labor law in the private sector, as in any other area of law, necessarily begins with a definition. At this point in the evolution of our history of work and employment, one would expect the basic concepts and definitions to be fairly well established. For many, however, the picture has at times been somewhat volatile. Due to the impact of COVID-19, these concerns have been magnified in ways that could hardly have been considered. On the positive side, this is arguably due to the need for a vibrant economy and its willingness to adapt to changes in our global climate and socio-economic, political and technological. At the same time, alternative solutions and the impact of COVID-19 have created not only new challenges, but, arguably, unintended consequences, ”they wrote.

The full publication, including the New York chapter, is available on the company’s website (
