It’s East versus West for the sports stars of Southeast Texas in this year’s Christus All-Star Classic games. Thursday was volleyball and basketball games at East Chambers High School.

On Friday, the East and West football teams will square off at Beaumont Memorial Stadium.

Kim Brent is a photojournalist for The Beaumont Enterprise.

She arrived at Beaumont in September 2014 as part of a search for full-time positions after her previous Michigan stint cut many staff, including Kim, to part-time.

“I’ve managed to make a living by getting a second job in my spare time working the deli counter at a local grocery store,” she said. “And let me just say that slicing meat for hours on end is no fun for a vegetarian.”

When she’s not covering our community, she loves painting, knitting, reading, writing and loving and being loved by my two kitties, Memphis and Skeets.

“And yes, I also like to take pictures for pure fun and creativity.”
