Glasgow City Chambers suspect package found to be ‘unviable’ after building evacuated

A suspicious package at Glasgow City Chambers was found to be ‘unviable’ after the building was evacuated.

We told how a package was left in the east wing of the building causing staff to evacuate.

Police rushed to the scene and the main section of the building was locked down.

Officers placed a cordon around the building while the package was analyzed.



Glasgow City Chambers reportedly evacuated

Cops have now confirmed that the article has been determined not to be considered viable and poses no threat to the general public.

The article will be removed and officers say their investigations into the incident are still ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a suspicious package at City Chambers, George Square, Glasgow at around 3.20pm on Monday 21st February 2022.

“Agents intervened and a cord was put in place while the package was analyzed.

“It has been determined that the article is not considered viable and there is no threat to the general public.

“The article will be deleted and investigations are ongoing.”
