In camera: Council meetings will be canceled | New
Norman City Council will suspend some of its meetings for a month from December to January due to planned improvements to its rooms.
Council meetings will be canceled from Dec. 15 to Jan. 15, said City Clerk Brenda Hall. The first council meeting will take place on January 18th.
In the absence of vacancies, study sessions and committee meetings will continue and be held in the multipurpose room instead of the executive conference room, she said.
Like board meetings, study sessions are open to the public, but unlike regular business meetings, comments from the public are not accepted. Places are limited in the multipurpose hall.
“The upgrades included in the boardroom and executive boardroom include ADA upgrades, ie hearing loops in floors, seating and an ADA accessible podium / lectern,” she said. declared in an e-mail. “Other upgrades include new carpets, seats, lighting and paint – just standard maintenance. “
Additional upgrades will include safety related features and ADA improvements throughout the building as well as new paint and carpet.
“The multipurpose room will be built for the offices of communications staff,” Hall said. “The City Clerk, City Manager and Legal Services areas will also undergo minor renovations. “
The cost of the upgrades is estimated at $ 700,000 and will be paid from the capital fund account, Hall said.
