Meijer donates $1 million to Hispanic Chambers of Commerce

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Meijer is donating $1 million to 17 Hispanic Chambers of Commerce in the Midwest.

The donation is divided equally between the chambers, which include the Hispanic chambers serving West Michigan, the state as a whole, and Lansing.

“Our diversity and inclusion journey is not just focused on our own team members, customers and business partners, but on our communities as a whole,” said Meijer President and CEO, Rick Keyes, in a statement. “We look forward to seeing how Hispanic Chambers will use our donation to create intergenerational wealth and opportunity for members of our communities.”

Meijer’s donation will be used to support the chambers’ “missions to promote economic growth, development and Hispanic-owned business interests,” the retailer said in a press release. Meijer operates 258 supercenters and grocery stores in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Wisconsin.

“By investing in these Hispanic Chambers, we hope to empower Hispanic business owners and create an economic impact that is felt in our communities,” said Tim Williams, Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion at Meijer, in a press release.
