Norfolk Chambers of Commerce appoints Nova Fairbank as Chief Executive to succeed Chris Sargisson, who ends his five-year term in July

The Norfolk Chambers of Commerce are preparing for a leadership succession, announcing the appointment of Nova Fairbank as Chief Executive from August 2022.

Chambers’ current chief operating officer, Nova, will succeed Chris Sargisson who ends his five-year term in July.

Chris, who was appointed to the role in 2017, has been instrumental in disrupting the business community scene by bringing the Norfolk Chambers of Commerce back to its core and revamping the membership organization and throwing the foundations of a Chamber of Commerce with a vision to connect, support and give voice to all businesses in Norfolk.

Now is the time, says Chris, for his colleague and number two, Nova, to take the reins of the next big step in the ambitious modernization journey.

“I can’t believe five years have passed since I first sat in the ‘Big Chair’ with a mission to build on the history and reputation of Chambers’ 126 years,” said said Chris.

“From the start, Nova and I have worked side by side. We connected immediately and together developed and shared a long-term vision of how we would like the Chambers to modernize and evolve.

And that’s no small feat, says Chris: “It’s a long journey, split into two 5-year terms, requiring a different skill set for each stage. The first, to complete the transition to a customer-centric culture, complemented by the creation of new bespoke digital programs, is now complete.

“The next phase aims to build on this strong foundation, creating enterprise-driven, customer-centric innovation to achieve the long-term vision of connecting with all businesses in Norfolk, and it makes no doubts Nova is absolutely the right person to lead Chambers through this important next step.

Nova is keen to continue the story she and Chris started in 2017: “A succession of leadership does not mean a change of direction. I look forward to carrying the torch for the Norfolk Chambers of Commerce, continuing the current journey supported by the strong new foundation and building blocks that Chris has laid over the past five years.

“We now have a highly skilled and incredible team with the digital infrastructure to support our future ambitions and growth. We will continue to deliver excellent customer service, relevance and innovation to ensure we meet the ongoing needs of our dynamic business community.

Nova has no plans to slow down or shift gears: “We look forward to delivering even more digital innovation, alongside demand-driven events and greater engagement, ensuring that we can connect, support and give voice to all businesses in Norfolk.”
