The new Parliament building will have modern facilities and spacious rooms
New Delhi, July 14 (SocialNews.XYZ) As part of the Central Vista redevelopment project, a new triangular-shaped Parliament building is being constructed, which spans 65,000 square meters. The new building will have many modern facilities and will also be larger than the current Parliament building.
According to reports, the construction of the new Parliament building, which is being constructed at a cost of Rs 1,200 crore, is expected to be completed by the end of 2022 or the beginning of 2023. Meanwhile, it is expected that the winter session held in November-December would be held in the new Parliament building.
The new building will have larger chambers for legislators and will accommodate 888 members in the Lok Sabha. In contrast, there will be 326 seats in the Rajya Sabha. 1,224 members can sit together during the joint session.
The new Lok Sabha will be three times larger than the current Lok Sabha, with seating facilities for MPs. It is based on the theme of the peacock, the national bird. Meanwhile, a larger Rajya Sabha Hall will have a capacity of up to 384 seats. It is based on the theme of the Lotus, the national flower.
The new Parliament will have a state-of-the-art Constitutional Hall, state-of-the-art offices, large committee rooms, a bigger and better library.
The new house will reflect the vibrancy and diversity of modern India, incorporating the country’s cultural and regional arts and crafts. In addition, the building will be adapted for people with disabilities (accessible to people with disabilities). People with disabilities will be able to walk freely and without assistance.
Digital facilities will be available to members in the new building. The seating arrangement for MPs in the new house will be more open and comfortable than the current arrangement. At the same time, two deputies will be able to sit at a table. Arrangements have been made for all Ministers to sit in the same place, in order to save time for their travels.
There is a dome on the roof of the Parliament. Also, a national emblem “Ashok Stambha” was installed on the roof of the newly constructed building. The national emblem above the new parliament building is made of bronze with a total weight of 9,500 kg and a height of 6.5 m.
As part of the Central Vista redevelopment project, a joint central secretariat, the reorganization of the three-kilometer-long Rajpath from Vijay Chowk to India Gate, a new residence and office for the Prime Minister and a new enclave for the Vice President are under construction .
The old parliament building was built between 1921 and 1927. After the construction of the new parliament, the old parliament will be turned into a museum.
